Introduction

Not sure which shipping container is right for you? We break down the main types – high cube, non-operational, refrigerated, shipping, side-access, storage, and tunnel – so you can match the perfect unit to your space, budget, and purpose.

High Cube

High cube containers are similar to standard shipping containers but are around 300mm taller, providing extra vertical space. This makes them ideal for storing or transporting bulky items, or for conversions where additional headroom is valuable.

Non-Operational (Non-Op)

Non-operational containers are ex-refrigerated units where the cooling system is no longer in use. They still have the thick insulation and durable build of a refrigerated container, making them perfect for secure, temperature-stable storage without the running costs.

Refrigerated (Reefer)

Refrigerated containers, or “reefers”, are designed to keep goods at a set temperature for transport or storage. They are often used for perishable food, pharmaceuticals, or other temperature-sensitive items. These units require a power supply to operate their cooling systems.

Shipping

Standard shipping containers are built for transporting goods by sea, road, or rail. They are strong, secure, and weatherproof, making them versatile for both shipping and static storage use. Available in various sizes, they are the industry standard for durability.

Side-Access

Side-access containers feature full-length doors along one side, allowing easier loading and unloading of large or awkward items. They are ideal when quick access to the entire container is needed without unpacking everything from the end.

Storage

Storage containers are typically converted shipping containers used for secure, on-site storage. They are wind and watertight, easy to relocate, and suitable for storing tools, equipment, furniture, or stock.

Tunnel

Tunnel containers have doors at both ends, allowing goods to be loaded or unloaded from either side. This makes them ideal for situations where through-access is needed, or for creating walk-through storage or site tunnels.
